Burrell Township Library

In the little township of Blacklick, Pennsylvania is a municipal building which houses the town maintenance department, the city supervisor’s meeting hall and is now the new temporary location of the Blacklick Public Library, run by my badass friend, Jen. This little library is a Phoenix rising out of the ashes of the former location which was destroyed nearly two years ago after a pipe burst and flooded the building. This temporary location is both a beginning and a continuation of something. There have been library services in this community for over 40 years, and this will continue because of dedicated people who fought to keep it alive. The library is already open to the public and Jen is filling shelves with new book titles. Land has been donated on main street for a new library building and the library board of directors is working on securing funds to get construction started. I am so proud of Jen for sticking it out. The town is, in turn, lucky to have a librarian who is passionate about her work and will breathe life into this new space.
